I want to remind you...

of God's protection in the midst of danger. He doesn't promise us a world free from dangers, but He does promise His help whenever we face danger. I know someone needs to be reminded of this today ...

Those who live in the secret place of the Most High, will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.

Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.

If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
no evil will conquer you; (not ever affect you)
no plague will come near your home.
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
The will hold you up with their hands
so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.
You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.
When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation." Psalm 91

Look again at that last verse... "I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation." Hallelujah! He sent us Christ, our Savior! Your faith, in God as your protector, will carry you through the ups and downs of life. But here's the condition... "Those who live in the secret place of the Most High, will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty." In other words, we will be kept safe only when we give our daily devotion to Him! Even as many bad things happen all around us, we can take comfort God watches over us in times of great fear and overwhelming stress.

If This Isn't Comfort...

then I don't know what comfort is!

"If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate,
who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not leave you as orphans--I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you will also live.

When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them." John 14: 15-21

How awesome! What a miracle! We are NEVER ALONE. When Jesus said, "I will come to you," He meant it. What a gift!

I love reading about David...

and how he trusted God. I happened to come across this scripture in a daily devotion...

But David persisted. "I have been taking care of my father's sheep and goats, he said. "When a lion or bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from it's mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death." 1 Samuel 17: 34-35

I think this is definitely a source of inspiration, especially when we're blind sighted to something that initially looks like trouble. When the lion or bear comes to destroy his flock, it was actually a great opportunity for David to develop into the warrior, and man after God's heart. Our human minds tend see that as horrible, but it was actually God's opportunity in disquise.

Think of preparation. David killed bears and Lions, AND THEN killed Goliath! If he had failed he probably wouldn't have become God's chosen king! Friend, when a "lion" or a "bear" comes into your life, try to look past the ugliness and the fierceness. It's H-A-R-D, but can be done. I would never tell you to 'do what I say' and not 'do what I do.' It's not impossible; let the Lord open your eyes to see Him in it. Every difficulty that comes our way, if we receive it correctly, is God's opportunity.

I Don't Know About You...

but this scripture really spoke to me, considering a new chapter is opening up in my life. A new season... I am moving across town to a new apartment where everything is on the first floor, which is going to be much easier not having to climb stairs! We live in a very beautiful loft apartment with stairs coming up into the apartment, and then stairs leading upstairs in the loft where our bedroom used to be (13 steps in each flight! We moved our bedroom to the cramped bedroom we have on our first level to make it easier for me, and my husband now has his Photography Studio upstairs in the loft. When we first moved here 8 years ago, I was much healthier but over that time my disease has progressed). Those stairs are a major barrier for me. I can do stairs but it's a huge challenge, and by the time I reach the top, I'm extremely exhausted! I absolutely hate doing laundry, because our washer and dryer are upstairs, so I wait until I run out of clothes!

Anyway our new apartment is beautiful too, everything is on one floor- Hallelujah! It's definitely a new season for me, and I will be able to use my scooter or a manual wheelchair in the new apartment, but to be honest with you... I am struggling with that. I know it will help me get around better. I don't know... I'm still struggling! So this scripture spoke to me about the situation I'm in at this moment in time...

"The priests will carry the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. As soon as their feet touch the water, the flow of water will be cut off upstream, and the river will stand up like a wall." Joshua 3: 13

"So the people left their camp to cross the Jordan, and the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them. It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river's edge, the water above that point began backing up a great distance away at a town called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the town of Jericho.

Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Lord's Covenant stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as people passed by. They waited there until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan on dry ground." Joshua 3: 13-17

In order to cross, the priests had to step into the water. What if these priests had been afraid to take that fist step? Often God provides no solution to our problems until we trust Him and move ahead with what we know we should do. I told you about my river, my obstacle (wheelchair) in my life right now. I need to take that first step. How about you? What's the obstacle in your way?

My move is set for April 9th

Today My Heart Navigates to Psalm 34...

Last night I was visiting a friend’s blog, and she wrote about this Psalm. It’s so comforting to know, to really know that God pays attention to those who call on Him. It doesn’t matter to me if God offers escape from trouble or helps in time of trouble, I’m certain that He always hears and acts on behalf of those who love and count on Him—sometimes in unexpected ways…

“I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
let us exalt his name together.

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Fear the Lord, you his godly people,
for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even strong Lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.” (Psalm 34: 1-10)

“The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help.
But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil;
he will erase their memory from the earth.
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous;
not one of them is broken! (This is a prophecy about Christ when He was crucified. Although it was the Roman custom to break the legs of the victim to speed death, not one of Jesus’ bones was broken(John 19; 32-37).

Calamity will surely overtake the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be punished.
But the Lord will redeem those who serve him.
No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.” (Psalm 34: 15-22)

I Have a Big Decision to Make...

…this decision is weighing very heavily on me…it will greatly affect things. The first thing I did was pray......God is silent. This is where I need to take Him at His Word. God promises me that He will guide me. Even if I 'm not hearing Him give direction, I must trust His Word and just know that whatever I decide…He has gone before me. The answer will become apparent sooner or later. But of course, I want sooner. Anyway, I was led to read Ecclesiastes chapter 6. Sometime earlier I had highlighted verse 10, so this time my eyes first fell upon this verse. It says,

“Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny.”

Could this be a confirmation? Is this God reaffirming His guidance to me? I think it is. My Bible Commentary says that God knows and directs everything that happens, and He is in complete control over our lives, even though at times it may not seem that way. So if you’re reading this, please pray for God’s will to be done. Thanks.

My Dear Friend, Alicia, Gave Me These Words...

They are from the Book of Isaiah. So much insight in these few verses, and I'll share them here...

1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God."
4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain

5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

6 A voice says, "Cry out." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.

7 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass.

8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

9 You who bring good tidings to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"

10 See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.

11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
Isaiah 40:1-11

Here's what my Bible Commentary says...The seeds of comfort may take root in the soil of adversity. When your life seems to be falling apart, ask God to comfort you. You may not escape adversity, but you will find God's comfort as you face it. Sometimes, however, the only comfort we have is in the knowledge that someday we will be with God. Appreciate the comfort and encouragement found in His Word, His presence, and His people.

Preparing a straight highway means removing obstacles and rolling out the red carpet for the coming of the Lord. The wasteland is a picture of life's trials and sufferings. We are not immune to these, but our faith need not be hindered by them. Isaiah told people to prepare to see God work. John the Baptist used these words as he challenged the people to prepare for the coming Messiah.

Thanks Alicia!

Today on my other blog, PERSEVERE...

I posted about how self-control is similar to ancient city walls (you can read it Here- it's towards the end of the post). Anyway, in 2 Chronicles 32: 5-8 tells of strengthening and rebuilding city walls...

"Then Hezekiah worked hard at repairing all the broken sections of the wall, erecting towers, and constructing a second wall outside the first. He also reinforced the supporting terraces in the City of David and manufactured large numbers of weapons and shields. He appointed military officers over the people ad assembled them before him in the square at the city gate. Then Hezekiah encouraged them by saying: "Be strong and courageous! Don't be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army,for there is a power far greater on our side! He may have a great army, but they are merely men.We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!Hezekiah's words greatly encouraged the people.

This is what my Bible Commentary says: Hezekiah could see with eyes of faith. The number of his opponents meant nothing as long as he was on the Lord's side. Victory is "not by force nor by strength, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven's Armies (Zechariah 4: 6).
